Translator privacy

This page covers the Combined Chat Translator on translate.combinedchat.com. It is written plainly: what the translator keeps, and why.

When you sign in

We store your channel name, display name, avatar address and platform user ID. Signing in is only used to confirm which channel is yours. We do not keep your sign-in token and cannot read your email, followers, subscriptions or anything else on your account.

While the bot is running

Chat messages pass through the server in memory. Messages in another language are sent to Google Cloud Translation, and the result is posted in your chat by our bot account. Your dashboard shows the last few dozen translations and skipped messages; these are held in memory only and cleared whenever the server restarts. We do not keep a log of your chat.

We keep a running count of characters translated for each channel, because that is what translation costs depend on.

Your settings

Your target language, language filter, and whether translations are posted and announced are saved so they survive restarts. If the bot is switched on when the server restarts, it rejoins your chat automatically.

Third parties

Google Cloud Translation receives the text of messages being translated. Twitch and Kick receive the translated message when it is posted. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else.

Removing your data

Stop translating and sign out to disconnect.
